Lion Manor

A European Estate in One of Atlanta’s
Premier Executive Areas

Welcome to 3863 Streamside Drive, Marietta, GA — affectionately known as “Lion Manor,”

named for the magnificent carved lions that stand guard at its grand entrance

and the regal lion-head “gargoyle” accents found throughout the estate.

A timeless, European-inspired masterpiece, Lion Manor was crafted with extraordinary detail

and built to last for generations.

Just 15–20 minutes from Downtown Atlanta,
this residence blends the serenity of nature with the convenience of city living.

Located only one minute from the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, residents enjoy miles of hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and fishing, while the Atlanta Braves Stadium and an array of fine dining and entertainment options are all within minutes to 20 minutes away.

Nestled in one of Marietta’s most desirable and established executive areas, the home is surrounded by other luxury estates owned by leaders and professionals from major corporations , offering both prestige and privacy.

Set on two private acres at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, the property is on Sope Creek, a gentle 50-foot-wide stream with smooth stones and small waterfalls — perfect for wading, floating, or simply relaxing beside the sound of flowing water. The setting adds to the home’s storybook charm, providing tranquility and natural beauty rarely found within reach of Atlanta.

Old-World Inspiration,
Modern Mastery

The architecture of Lion Manor draws inspiration from legendary European estates such as Shield Hill Hall Manor and Munster Castle in Scotland, Fountain Abbey House in Northern England, and Sir Walter Scott’s English residence.

Nearly maintenance-free, the home is constructed of 98% granite and brick, complemented by a simulated slate roof installed approximately eight years ago. The roof carries a 50-year warranty on both materials and labor and includes a reinforced “Ice Shield” membrane beneath for maximum protection.

The estate’s retaining walls — engineered in 2011 — are poured concrete with rebar and proper underground drainage, reclaiming land for the pool and entertainment area.

Every element reflects thoughtful design, structural integrity, and lasting quality.

Built by Artisans, Not Contractors

Construction of Lion Manor was a 2½-year labor of love, personally overseen by the owner each week to ensure perfection. Two English craftsmen, trained on the island of Gibraltar, were brought to Atlanta
specifically to complete the interior.

All millwork throughout the home was crafted from solid Honduran mahogany — a rare and now unobtainable wood that alone represented over $300,000 in 1995 dollars. Every inch of trim, every door, every stair rail was hand-carved, hand-fitted, and hand-finished — created “as you go” with no prefabricated molds or shortcuts.

The antique newel post anchoring the grand staircase came from a mansion in Ohio, seamlessly integrated into a custom hand-twisted mahogany railing built with bespoke blades made to the craftsmen’s own specifications. Their work was time-consuming and methodical — guided not by schedule, but by artistry.

European Elegance in Every Detail

  • Windows & Doors: Imported aluminum double-pane Eagle Windows from Germany — no wood, no rot, and exceptional insulation.

  • Fireplaces: Each hand-carved from imported European stone, built from concrete block with fire-rated clay flues.

  • Lighting: Antique chandeliers sourced from Europe and South America, all converted from gas to electric. The grand entry chandelier was salvaged from a 19th-century saloon in New Mexico.

  • Gutters: Entirely copper, featuring custom collection boxes reminiscent of 16th-century castles, along with copper gutter guards for low maintenance.

  • Ironwork: Ornate wrought-iron fencing and antique estate gates imported from upstate New York.

  • Flooring & Woodwork: The movie room and lower floors feature reclaimed heart pine, showing the original patina and nail marks from centuries-old iron fasteners.

  • Beams: The massive great room timbers were salvaged from Lake Erie, then milled, doweled, and assembled by hand.

Even the built-in cabinetry in the study and library was designed around antique pieces collected from Europe prior to construction.

A Fortress of Engineering

Beneath its beauty, Lion Manor is built like a fortress.

  • Foundation: The four-story home rests on a concrete slab ranging from 2 to 3 feet thick, with poured reinforced concrete exterior walls.

  • Framing: 2x6 exterior and 2x4 interior walls throughout; laminated structural beams span major spaces.

  • Stability: No settling, no cracking, and no water intrusion in over 20 years — a testament to over-engineering and expert craftsmanship.

  • Decks & Walkways: Built from industrial-strength steel, faced in granite and brick.

  • Mechanical Systems: Five HVAC units (Carrier), all serviced by Cool Ray with detailed records. Two units have been replaced since 2012. The lower-level systems remain original, as those floors are below grade and require minimal energy for heating and cooling.

  • Water & Electrical: 100% copper water lines, multiple electri

The home was also pre-engineered for an elevator — the shaft and below-grade pit already exist, allowing simple installation should future owners desire it.

Luxury Meets Livability

The kitchen features Sub-Zero refrigeration and Viking ranges, all maintained to the highest standards.

Outdoor spaces flow seamlessly from the interior, creating endless opportunities for entertaining — from intimate evenings by the fire to grand gatherings on the terrace or by a future pool.

The lower level includes an entertainment suite and trophy room or art studio, all finished with the same attention to detail as the main levels

A separate guest house/caretaker’s apartment features its own HVAC and utilities, providing both comfort and independence for visitors or staff.

A Home Built Around History

Before construction even began, the owners of Lion Manor hand-selected antique architectural features — fireplaces, chandeliers, and cabinetry — from across Europe and South America. The home was literally built around these treasures, ensuring every space felt authentic and timeless.

Carved above the entryway is a French-Latin inscription once seen on Fountain Abbey Manor near Manchester, England:

“Rein Trauvant Gainera Tot” — Finding nothing, I must earn everything.

A statement of entrepreneurial spirit and the dedication that went into creating this estate —

a home built by passion, craftsmanship, and purpose.
